ZOOM will be sticking around a little longer

Following the release of the EKF Guidelines; the difficult and very frustrating decision has been made not to re-open. We understand and share your disappointment and a lot of work had gone into us re-opening in around 20 venues. Please trust that we did try our best. However, there are numerous guidelines for Karate Clubs to re-open in phase one, that we would not be able to put in place using our hired venues. So in the interests of safety, we have decided not to re-open at this time. We would not be able to teach our classes in the fun and friendly way that defines our Club.  We would prefer to wait until phase two is announced by the EKF and to continue to offer high quality online training and activities for our members. At this stage, we simply do not know how long it will take for the Governing body to move to phase two. If it falls in line with the 'Government roadmap', we could be looking at September/October. That is just a guess and not a certainty. Please trust that as soon as we can open and operate safely in our partner venues, we will. GOOD NEWSBad news aside and not ones to beaten, our fabulous Instructors have had a meeting and thrashed out some amazing ideas to keep us busy throughout August.Karate would have been due to make it's debut in the Olympic Games this month. So we thought, that we would bring the Olympic Games to you!Matt Price Sensei has also kindly offered to do a Sunday Morning session open to everyone to kick the month off in style. There is a ZOOM grading pencilled for Sunday 13th September so don't be lazy all Summer and then think you can cram in your training in September. That won't work. Keep consistent and continue to improve.

So here's what we have lined up for August…

***Matt Price Sensei Session***JKS England National Squad Coach and Karate legend Matt Price Sensei will teaching for us on Sunday 2nd August from 10am-11am. 100 Places available. These will be allocated to Instructors first and the remaining places will be available on request from Wednesday 29th July. ***RTK Olympic games - each Instructor represents a county and you need to train with as many countries as possible throughout the month***We will teaching you their numbers 1-10 and dropping the name of a famous WKF competitor from that country so you'll have to listen carefully for that! Look out for our activity sheet and complete this challenge for a prize! I think it will be very funny hearing some of the Instructors trying to count in a different language! Hahaha! ***August Squat Challenge***Want to get good at karate? Want to gain explosive power so you can pack more into your punch? SQUAT SQUAT SQUAT! Work that booty. Every class will complete 100 squats, how many squats can you complete in 1 month. Bronze, Silver and Gold prizes available. ***Champ Grace Baron 'zooming' into grade classes***EKF Senior Kata Squad member Grace Baron will also be doing a guest spot in some Monday, Wednesday and Friday classes to teach you how to improve the presentation of your Katas and introduce you to competitive karate. Do not miss out on this awesome opportunity with our rising star! JKS Hombu Dojo Instructor sessions These will continue throughout August and links will be put on the protected website page for you to join in. (Links will be available to those who have paid for unlimited training only). So far, as part of our partnership with JKS England and JKS Scotland, we've had the opportunity to train with Toyama Sensei, Makita Sensei, Okamoto Sensei, Kanayama Sensei, Nagaki Sensei, Yamaguchi Sensei, Watanabe Sensei plus many more. This sessions take place during the day so children who are off school can join in. So as you can see, Coronavirus will never keep a Great Club with Great Members down. Our community will have stay online until it is safe for us to meet up again. The best decisions are not always the most popular ones but we will continue to make this work whilst protecting everyone's safety. I'd encourage you to please keep training and keep up the commitment. The best thing about ZOOM is that you can even train when you go on holiday. You can log the children into a session and have 40 minutes to yourself whilst we burn off their energy.Had a bad day at work? Get training, you will feel better! The EKF has re-opened so we will be able to renew licenses via our online shop in the next few days. We will also be sending you login details of the APP so you won't need cards and can track your attendance online.Keep your chin up everyone, we'll carry on kickin' and punchin' no matter what!
