Re-opening of classes and rules
We are pleased to announce the phased return of face to face classes. They will be somewhat different to what you will remember and will rely on everyone playing their part to make sure we keep ourselves and each other safe. You will no longer be able to turn up at classes and pay training fees on the door. Parents will no longer be able to sit at the side and watch at this time. There is to be no contact whatsoever between members of different households and we are currently unable to spar or use any equipment. These are all decisions that have been made that are beyond our control, however, our team are willing to try to do whatever it takes to get us back in the dojo in the safest possible way. Guidance has been received from the English Karate Federation and we are going implement everything that has been suggested.Booking and payment must be made online and in advance via the dojo expert app. Usernames and passwords will be emailed out on Wednesday 9th September to the student email addresses we have on file. We are using Paypal to process payments.Places at classes will be very limited due to each student needing to occupy their own 3 x 3 metre square. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and priced at £6.50 per person. The slight increase is only a temporary measure to enable us to re-open and will be reviewed once social distancing rules are relaxed and we are able to teach more people. ZOOM classes will continue and be priced at £6 per class (per household). You will need to book online and pay via the app and then we will send you the link to the class. We will not be taking on any new beginners at this time. This will allow every place available to go to our loyal members who have gotten us through this difficult time.
Please observe the following rules to allow us to run our classes as safely as possible for everyone. If you are a parent booking for your child(ren), please discuss these rules with your child(ren) prior to their arrival. If you, or anyone in your household are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19. Please do not attend class and immediately book a test. Please cancel your place at the class so that we can offer it to another member and train on our ZOOM class instead. This is key! The sooner we stop the spread, the sooner we can all return to doing everything we love!
- Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your session and queue at least 1 metre apart.
- Students over the age of 11 to wear a face mask on arrival but this can be removed once you have entered the dojo and are ready to train. You do not have to wear a mask whilst training although if you prefer to, you may.
- Please arrive ready for training. Changing facilities will not be open, only toilets.
- On entering, you will have your temperature checked (anyone above 37.8 will not be allowed access) apologies.
- Parents please refrain from coming inside just for now, but please wait until after temperature check before you leave.
- We will be issuing students with new membership cards at their first class back. This will have a QR code on it and the students will use this to scan into class.
- Scan in using your membership card.
- Sanitise your hands.
- Enter the main dojo and space place any belongings inside your bag, nothing left lying around. Once inside the dojo we would ask that you change into some clean footwear (trainers etc.) to train in. We are not permitted to train in bare feet at this time.
- Take the next available marked space in the dojo floor immediately (no waiting for friends to arrive) and you will need to stay inside your own area unless you need the toilet or are asked to move by the Instructor.
- There must be no shouting. For now, Kiai's must be kept to talking volume rather than a lung emptying battle cry.
- 11yrs plus maintain social distancing at all times.
- Shouldn't have to put this, but just a reminder for the kids, if you've visited the toilet during the class, you'll need to wash hands/use sanitiser again.
- After training, one row at a time from the back will be asked to leave, please collect your belongings and exit.
- Sanitise your hands when leaving.
- Parents must be outside to collect your children from at least 10 minutes before the end of the session (no exceptions as we cannot allow anyone to stay in the dojo waiting).
Some rules may ease as the weeks progress (class sizes, parents being able to watch, etc.) and we will keep you informed as we go.Stay safe! Do the right thing and look after each other!Karate begins and ends with respect, treat the rules and one another with respect and we all get through these weird times together. We are all looking forward to seeing you all in person again.
