First we would like to welcome all of the Brand New Beginners who have joined us throughout May. Beginners classes have opened in the following locations: Lever Edge Primary School, Highfield Primary School, Beaumont Primary School and Harwood Meadows Primary. This takes our total classes in the Bolton area to 14, making us the largest Karate Club in Bolton. We hope you are enjoying our classes!
Well done to all of the RTK Squad members who took part in the EKF Series 1 in Manchester on Sunday 26th May. The whole squad got some valuable experience and we even managed to come away with a couple of well deserved medals – Jaime Sensei won Bronze in the 18+ Male Kata and Marley Little won Bronze in the Cadet Male Kumite. We are proud of you all!
Rich Holden from the Stockton Heath Dojo also passed his Assistant Instructor assessment with flying colours in early May. Congratulations Rich and Jon Sensei for getting him through the programme. You run a great dojo over at Stockton Heath and we are so pleased to have another Assistant Instructor in the ranks. Thanks to Mike Sensei for travelling over and doing the assessment and the Stockton Heath students for being so easy to teach.
RTK CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS - SUNDAY 30TH JUNE
Venue: Kearsley Academy, Springfield Rd, Bolton. BL4 8HY
We need you! No competitors – no championships. Save the date, get your entry in and do your very best!
Our Championship is only for the students and families of the 60 Red Tiger Karate dojos. It is a grassroots competition, and we try and create and fun and friendly atmosphere. Our goal is to improve your karate, make new friends from other dojos and have a great morning/afternoon out. Medals are just a bonus!
It is run by our Sensei's for our students to give you some valuable experience and to introduce you to the benefits of competitive karate. You'll have the chance to win some beautiful medals and every student who takes part goes home with a certificate to reward you for being brave enough to have a go.
Our team is well organised, and we run a tight events schedule from 10am right through till 3.30pm on 4 separate matted areas. There is no need to be there all day, simply turn up at the time of your event, do your best and the medals and certificates are awarded straight after the event. You have until SUNDAY 23RD JUNE to enter and the timetable will be posted on the news page by TUESDAY 25TH JUNE.
Compete against students of a similar age and grade level
Why try to keep our categories small to give everyone a good chance of winning one of our medals or trophies. There categories are as follows:
Individual Kata - Individual Kumite - Pairs Kata - Family Kata
You will be competing against students of a similar age and grade level to keep everything as fair as possible.
Reasonably priced and it’s free to come and support
Our tournament is reasonably priced, a single event costs £12 or you can compete in all of the categories for your age and grade group for £20. It is free of charge to come and watch.
Dojo Championship, Fair Play points and the Kath Head Award
The Dojo Championship trophy is up for grabs and will be awarded to the Dojo who amasses the most points.
Each competitor earns 1 point for participation. You can also earn 1 point for a bronze medal, 2 points for a silver medal and 3 points for a gold medal.
*** New for 2024 - Fair Play Points - the Officials on the Tatami will be able to award an extra 2 points to the student in each category who has showed excellent etiquette, respect and sportsmanship, so even if you don't win, you can still earn your dojo extra points.
We will also award our 3rd Kath Head Award in memory of a much loved and sadly missed member whose effort and dedication still goes unmatched to this day! Former winners include Catherine Johnson and Xander Matanle. The Sensei's decide the winner based on your performances, effort and behaviour throughout the day. The winner of this award will receive a large trophy to keep forever as well as 5 extra points for their dojo.
All of the points will be totalled after the Championships and the winning Dojo will be presented with a massive Trophy Cup!
Refreshments and RTK online shop items will be on sale at the Championships.
Picside Specialist Sports Photographers will also be taking photos at the event and you will have the opportunity to have your own karate portrait made. For more info on picside and their work click here: https://picside.co.uk/
